Respect is a powerful word. Respect is a great character trait. It’s an important part of the golden rule. Respect means listen when somebody is talking, wait your turn to talk, and treat others the way you want to be treated. You should show respect every day. For example, let every body play your game. If somebody seems lonely ask them to play. Play a game that everybody likes. At church you can greet the people next to you. At the store you can help old people find wha they need. You can help your siblings by helping them on their homework. You can respect your pets by playing with them and loving them. Respect is part of being nice. Don’t you want people to be nice to you? I would, so respect others and they will respect you. In class you listen to the teacher, then they will listen to you. Always listen, if somebody is calling you, answer them, because they might be trying to tell you something important. Remember, respect is something you have to earn.
Heaven Vallejos– 5th Grade
Respect to me means treating people the way you want to be treated. Appreciating our environment, such as our school, our city parks and in addition to Mother Earth. Appreciating and doing no harm to wildlife. Being kind and helpful to disadvantage people. But most of all, love and appreciate yourself.

What is respect? Respect is really about what we admire in the world and in people. It’s a positive feeling. People tend to admire things that they want. For example, if you want to be wealthy you will respect rich people. If you do not respect wealthy people, you are not going to ever be a wealthy person. Respect is not just that, it can also be like these famous quotes “Respect is for those who deserve it, not for those who demand it“ or “Think before you say it.” You can be respectful at Mountain View by paying attention in class, saying please and thank you, and maybe using all the MV character pillars. What we want tell a lot about who we are. Being respectful is not just doing thing that is boring or not fun, it helps the world generate and accomplish in more ways that can come back to you. Respect means a lot to me and it’s important, if respect didn’t exist, the world would not be the same. Respect is easy and simple just be respectful each day and the world will slowly change.
