Girls Basketball Champion Photo
Our Golden Bear Girls Varsity squad locked up their spot in the District Championship tournament with a thrilling victory over the Fugman Marlins on Friday. Coach Panosian had her team ready for their final league opponent and finished the regular season with an undefeated record. Our girls were poised and ready for every challenge the Marlins could muster, and we closed out the game with strong defense and solid shooting. Way to show that Golden Bear HEART, SPIRIT, and PRIDE!

Update on the Canned Food Drive

Our Amazing Community's Contributions Were Noticed!

When we held the food drive before the holidays, we knew that we would get a great outpouring from our community. As it turns out, our beautiful school and all of it's beautiful people went above and beyond. With just under 3,000 cans/boxes/packages donated, we were the second highest contributor to the annual Clovis Rotary Canned Food Drive. The only school to bring in more (and not by much) was Alta Sierra - a Jr. High School with nearly twice the student enrollment of our Elementary School. The items that came in were packaged by the Rotary Club and distributed to 500 families in need this past holiday season. We received commendations from the Rotary members and Clovis Police Department for the efforts, and they want to have other schools contact us to see what we do to encourage such a giving spirit from our community. Really - it all comes down to the Heart, Spirit, and Pride philosophy that we foster here, and our wonderful families mirror those concepts every time you make an event like this a success. Great people doing great things! Thank you to our student council and to Mrs. Chavez and Miss Lassley for leading the charge!

Parent Participation and Input is Needed

Parents, we invite you to please join us this week at SSC/ELAC or our Coffee Talk with the Principal. These are great opportunities to learn about the programs we run at school, offerings we have for our kids, and the procedures we follow. Topics of the Coffee Talk will include Attendance numbers (reflecting on how the change to our Bell Schedule this year has impacted attendance), student disciplinary procedures (especially as they relate to racial issues); safety, and assessment data at our midpoint in the year.

CSI - Here for the Social/Emotional Development of Our Students

One of the ways we help students navigate growing up is through our Clovis Support Initiative (CSI) groups. Using a scripted, curriculum-based program, trained staff meet with small groups over the course of several weeks to improve how students communicate and build positive interactions and relationships at school.
